Scholars, athletes and practitioners engaged in the intersection of sports and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender experience gathered at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism for a series of conversations, panels and discussions examining the implications of sexual orientation and gender identity in sports.

The conference is sponsored by the USC Annenberg Institute of Sports, Media & Society, which is directed by Daniel Durbin. Partners include the USC LGBT Resource Center and the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center. The conference is co-directed by Annenberg Doctoral Candidate Evan Brody and Adam Amel Rogers from the Norman Lear Center.

College athletes, coaches, administrators and support staff will engage in a discussion of the current climate facing LGBT athletes and coaches. The panel, moderated by Pat Griffin, the primary author of the NCAA Resource Guide on LGBT Issues in Sports, will address steps taken to create an accepting environment for LGBT athletes at USC and what the NCAA is doing to combat homophobia and transphobia in athletics.
